BHU to reprint books on Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya

Varanasi, September 7, 2010: Banaras Hindu University will reprint important books on Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of the founder of the university.

BHU vice-chancellor Professor DP Singh on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the progress of celebrating 150th Malaviya Jayanti in university and other places. The meeting decided to reprint important books on Malviya Jee including Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya (An Historical Biography) Vols. I & II by Dr. Parmanand; Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya (Jeevani) by Dr. V.N. Tiwari; Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya (Lekh Evam Bhashan) by Pt. Sitaram Chaturvedi; Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya and Patrakarita by Dr. L.S. Vyas; Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya (Jeevan Aur Netritva) by Prof. M.B. Lal; Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya (Sadupdesh) by Professor M.B. Lal; Malaviya Ji Ke Sath Tees Din by Pt. Ram Naresh Tripathi and Jeevan Jhalkiyan by Padmakant Malaviya.

An editorial committee was also constituted to look into the reprint of these books with a new and modern look.

Professor Singh said he wished more number of books should be released on the occasion of start of 150th Malviya Jayanti celebration programme, which will start from December 25, 2010.

He said BHU would celebrate the occasion in the manner in which whole the world realises the Mahamana Vision. He hoped that government would come forward to celebrate this occasion as a national programme.

Vice-chancellor announced that the 150th year would witness the galaxy of programmes including national, international seminars, symposia, new and internationalize look to our curriculum structures and courses, installation of UNESCO Chair on Peace and Understanding, face uplift of each of the faculty and departments.

Singh said he would interact with each departments, faculty, institutes, unit, campuses, students’ group to request them to come forward with the new proposals to make this auspicious occasion a grand happening at global scenario.

The meeting took several other important decisions including modernization of infrastructure in BHU library particularly provision of Microfilm Reader, updating of Malaviyana, inclusion of the retired members in the Core Committee for publication of Malaviya Granthmala to the full privileges of the Central Library.

The meeting also decided a documentary film of one hour on Malaviya Jee, a publication of Coffee Table Book on Mahamana, publication of Malviya Calendar, creation of sound and light system on Malviya Jee at Malaviya Bhawan, opening of sales counter at Shri Vishwanath Temple to enable visitors purchase literature on the life and work of Mahamana. All the plans will be taken up before December 25.

Prof. S.S. Shukla, Prof. R.K. Shukla, Prof. Rajesh Singh, Prof. D.K. Singh, Prof. V.P. Mishra, Dr. CM Upadhyaya, Parag Prakash, Dr. D.P. Sharma and others attended the meeting.
