Digital Literacy Curriculum programme held in FMS, BHU


Varanasi, September 3, 2011: After the successful completion of a 10-day teacher empowerment program, “Saksham” which was conducted in the month of June in the Faculty of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) started the second program in the series.

The two-day training-cum orientation program, titled, “Digital Literacy Curriculum” was organized at the Faculty of Management Studies, at the initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under the National Mission of Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT).

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. RK Pandey, Dean, FMS, BHU welcomed the guests, the participating teachers of BHU and its affiliated colleges and the trainer Ashutosh from Microsoft Corporation. He advised the teacher participants to use technology as a tool rather than letting technology override their innate talent of being a thinker and researcher.

Coordinator of the program, Dr. Abhijeet Singh informed that 25 teachers from disciplines ranging from Sanskrit, Arts, Science, Medicine and Ayurveda have been participating in the two-day DLC program. The University is in discussion with the Ministry and Microsoft to conduct more such programs for skill development of University teachers in the area of ICT.

Ashutosh informed that at the end of the two-day DLC program the teachers will be benefited by adapting IT tools in their routine academic and research activities.
