Effigy of Ravan was ready for burning at Lanka ground in Ramnagar in Varanasi on occasion of Vijaya Dashmi on September 28, 2009.Unlike other effigy burning event, in trans-Ganga township of Ramnagar in Varanasi where Ramleela is internationally famous as events are organized at different places in open sky, as per tradition after killing Ravan, Ram asks Vibhishan to perform last rites and Vibhishan burns effigy here contrary to general practice of burning effigies of Ravana and others by Rama or chief guests.
