Premchand research centre to be established in Lamhi





Uttar Padesh Cultural Minister Subhash Pandey formally handed over the land to Banaras Hindu University Vice Chancellor Professor DP Singh for establishing Premchand Memorial Research and Study Centre at Lamhi, the ancestral village of great Hindi novelist Munshi Premchandra, in Varanasi on July 29, 2011. The centre will be constructed in 2490 square metres of land at an initial cost of Rs 2 crore. Professor Singh also distributed Munshi Premchand’s literature to the students of Navrachna School, Varanasi. The function was organized to commemorate the 131st birth anniversary of Munshi Premchnad. Senior district administration and university officials were present on the occasion.
