Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), celebrated World Forestry Day by organising different programmes on the campus in Varanasi on March 21, 2011. Students and teachers of the faculty planted saplings. The institute also organised seminar and poster competition to make people aware about the importance of forest. Professor AS Raghuvanshi was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Raghuvanshi expressed his grave concern over the decline in forest cover in the developing countries. In the poster competition, MD Kumar of Faculty of Visual Arts won the first prize. Institute Director Professor Ram Pratap Singh presided over the function.
